SSC CGL EXAM: Some insights on the exam.
SSC Exams: Are too difficult?🤔
In this article, I will mainly deal with SSC CGL exam.
SSC exams are not difficult from perspective of difficulty level of question. This exam is get difficult because of too many things.
1. Too many delays in clearing 1 vacancy session i.e., SSC CGL took 3 years to complete CGL 2017 vacancy, etc, which have become intrinsic property of SSC.
2. Numbers of aspirants are too large. It varies from 25 lakh to 30 lakh where vacancy merely rotate around 6k to 8k.
SSC CGL exam can be cleared in 1 attempt, if, a person follows a basic set of book list with frequent revision of those books.
In addition to these, test series of some good qualities like
1. The most relevant Testbook and Grade up.
2. A level up test is put forward by SSC TUBE.
3. The most difficult test comes from Olive board and Supermock.
PS: Testbook and Previous years question are more than enough for question practice and simulation test.
Now, let's come to the booklist, which, I have followed during my CGL preparation.
Maths
1. Rakesh Yadav 9100+ questions (Previous years question paper). The best point of this book is that solution is completely based on tricky method which is very relevant and can be easily applied in exam irrespective of exam pressure with decent level of practice from this book.2. Rakesh Yadav class notes. ( The best book, I have ever seen, which fulfill all needs of SSC CGL exam).
3. Rakesh Yadav Advance Maths.
( This book will introduce you to some of the difficult concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry etc.)
English
1. KD campus ( All volumes). Sure and shot for english grammar.2. For vocabulary.
A. Blackbook/ HC Hardwick
B. Vocabulary section of SP Bakshi.
C. Norman Lewis ( Deals with Etymology). Not mandatory or necessary.
3. For comprehension, you should read English newspaper like The Indian express, The Hindu etc
4. For previous years question
SSC previous years question papers by Ajay Kumar ( MB Publication). Very very important.
General Awareness
1. Lucent/ Manohar Pandey2. Speedy or any yearly magazine
3. Any decent you tube channel for getting daily updated with current affairs.
Reasoning
1. Very easy questions asked, but, you should go through previous years question papers, and, work on the concept which you are not familiar with like, clock, dice, direction, number pattern etc.
